New 1340kW 48 Valve, V12 turbocharged marine diesel engine

FAMCO launches Yanmar V12 marine engine to Middle East customers at the Seatrade Maritime exhibition. Yanmar's versatile 12AY Series 40 litre marine diesel engine, newly developed to suit a range of vessels from passenger ferries to supply boats, crew boats and tug boats.

Yanmar is already globally acknowledged as a leading manufacturer of marine diesel solutions. Its new 40 litre, 48 valve, V-12 cylinder turbocharged diesel engine is offered in five power ratings from 1199 - 1822 mhp across three models, all of which offer exceptional performance, low fuel consumption and low emissions. Yanmar's main regional distributor FAMCO already has its order book busy with firm bookings from around the Gulf region, with the 12AY Series expected to be as popular in the Middle East as it is internationally.

A key element of the improved performance and efficiency of the 12AY Series is the use of a new staggered injection nozzle and patented combustion chamber design named ASSIGN which allows for a very wide rpm range that delivers outstandingly low fuel consumption. The totally new cylinder block design offers improved rigidity when compared to previous models, while a mechanical engine governor control and Yanmar's own fuel system components further enhance reliability. With an absence of electronics on board, the simplicity of the 12AY Series has been a major decision making factor for many commercial operators.

The design of the 12AY Series also means simplicity when maintenance or overhaul is required. Cylinder block inspection ports provide easy access to the connecting rod assemblies without the need to remove the engine oil pan or to lift the engine from the mounting foundation.
